People
Who believe in music
Are the happiest people
I’ve ever seen
Clap your hands
Stomp your feet
Shake your tambourine
Lift your voices to the sky
God loves you
When you are singing

Fuck with me

Born from collapsing
Clouds of gas and dust
Called nebulae
Or molecular clouds

97% hydrogen
3% helium
Gravity pulls the gas
And dust together
In clumps

Gathering more atoms
The mass gravitational pull
Increases
Attracting more atoms
Into the clumps of gas and dust
This is called accretion

From there the protostar
Must find equilibrium
Between the gravity
Pulling in more atoms
And gas pressure
Pushing light and heat
Away from the center

Density of the protostar increases
As more atoms try to share
The same space
Gas pressure increases
As atomic collisions
And density increases

Protostars that cannot maintain
The balance of mass and pressure
Become brown dwarfs
And never reach star status

For successful protostars
Accretion ends once
The gas pressure reaches gravity
And resists the collapse
Of the nebula
This is equilibrium

Once a critical temperature
Is reached in the core
The protostar begins
Nuclear fusion

Once hydrogen
Gets fused into helium
In the core of the protostar
The main sequence begins
And gives birth to a star

The main sequence continues
So long as hydrogen burning
Maintains

Once it runs out of hydrogen
The star begins burning helium
This causes the outer layers
To expand
Known as the red giant phase

The star gets bigger
But is less stable
Once out of helium
The last phase begins
Carbon burning

Finally
The star sheds its outer layers
Into a planetary nebula
Returning materials
Back to interstellar space
Gas, dust, and cosmic rays
From whence it came

Leaving behind
Only it’s core
A white dwarf
Where for trillions of years
It will burn away it’s energy
And become a black dwarf

Our star
The Sun
Will not end its main sequence
And become a red giant
Until approximately
5 billion years

A cosmic year
Roughly 250 million Earth years
Is the amount of time
It takes our star
The Sun
And as result our solar system
And planet Earth
To orbit our galaxy
The Milky Way

Our galaxy is
13.2 billion years old
The Sun is 4.57 billion years old
So that makes for 18.28 orbits
Around the Milky Way

In 3 billion years
Our galaxy will begin to merge
With a neighboring galaxy
Called Andromeda

Earth is 4.54 billion years old

Roughly 4.5 billion years ago
The Moon was formed
After Earth and another planet
Collided

The Moon orbits Earth
Acting as a natural satellite
The distance from Earth
To the Moon
Slowly increases
At the rate of 38 mm per year

Life on Earth began
Roughly 4.5 billion years ago
Or I should say
Single cell life forms began

Roughly 4.1 billion years ago
The atmosphere
And the oceans developed

3.5 billion years ago
Bacteria begins developing
Primitive forms of photosynthesis

1 gram of soil
Typically contains
40 million cells of bacteria

1 millilitre of fresh water
Typically contains
1 million cells of bacteria

Roughly 3 billion years ago
Some of those cells
A bacteria called Cyanobacteria
With the help of water
Began to develop oxygen
As a byproduct

Oxygen concentration
In the atmosphere
Begins killing other cell life forms
And the close orbit of the Moon
Causes great hurricanes
And tidal waves 1,000 feet tall
Helping oxygen rapidly
Consume the planet

1.2 billion years ago
Sexual reproduction begins
And multicellular organisms
Begin rapidly increasing
The rate of evolution

Roughly 580 million years ago
The ozone layer
Blocking ultraviolate rays
From the Sun
Begins to form

Steal my tyranny
From me
And kill my precious
Little ego

Break my heart
And hope to cry
Because I know
It’s all a part
Of the growing process

From a puppy love
To an honest to God
Sacrifice

May I be so blessed
As to know her name
And exemplify
Her truest form

As in
I do
From the sunniest of days
To the darkest of storms

I will always
Seek shelter in your shade
And offer the same

In always
I speak a warmth and a praise
Reserved exclusively for she
Whom I give my name

Because
I have loved
So deeply

Because
I have loved
So long

God
In His great compassion
Gave me the gift of song

Because
I have loved so vainly
And sung with such
Faltering breath

The Master
In His infinite mercy
Offers the boon
Of death

Who is Eli? Well, what is Eli about?

And somewhere in there I’ve got to fit in enough masculine ego to win over a compatible, pretty woman someday.

That’s me. Or at least, who I aspire to be everyday.

Here’s to constantly growing as a human being, and to always trying to improve one’s self.

Now, who are you, and what are you about?
